Martin Toohey, also known as Murt, and his family are a team of contractors operating out of Borrisokane in Co. Tipperary, running under the prefix Toohey Agri.
“It is a family-run business, Toohey Agri.” Martin explained to Kevin of That’sFarming.
The family also run their own Suckler beef enterprise, though this is not where the agri-influence ends, as the family are famed locally for their unique tractor-themed Christmas displays.
“We are Suckler farmers here as well.” He said.
The team started this initiative approximately eight years ago and last year they decided to dedicate their display to charity, with all monies going to help a local boy suffering from Transverse myelitis.
“This is the eighth one now I think,” said the contractor.
“We never really done it for charity up until last year and then last year we did it for a young lad beside us, we work for his father, he has Transverse myelitis and we said we would see if we could raise a few pound for him. It went very well”
Their maiden charitable effort saw the team raise in excess of €4,000, which is why they decided to go again for charity, this time for another local cause.
“My brother's girlfriend works in the Autistic centre in Cloughjordan school, so we said we would try raise some money for that.” Martin said to Kevin.
“Last year we raised about €4,000 roughly.”
The display is showcased at the Toohey household near Borrisokane with everybody encouraged to come along, have a look, take some pictures and even donate to a very worthy cause.
“We have a donation box on the wall so anyone can donate.” Martin said.
Check out the display first-hand below! If this doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit, we don't know what will!
