It has been reported that people have gathered in their thousands for this years and it’s no surprise as Tullamore is famous for being the unofficial best show in Ireland. Crowds gathered from early morning and stayed until late evening, soaking up all the fun on offer. It was reported that there was over 10,000 children in attendance this year, and reports of the highest ever attendance in the show’s history.
There was something for everybody at yesterday’s show in Tullamore, with everything from fashion to livestock to machinery. It was a beautiful day in Tullamore, with the weather holding out for the whole course of the day.
The Livestock shows were undoubtedly the most popular of the day’s events, with hundreds of pedigree cattle and sheep entered in this year’s show. There were champions and there were some disappointed showers on the day, but overall the mood was a positive one, with many just happy to be in attendance. Every animal made an appearance, with pigs, horses, dogs and even alpacas present on the day.
There was also dancing for all the jiving enthusiasts, with Declan Nerney belting out some of his most popular hits. For all GAA fans hoping not to miss out on the match, there was a flat screen on site to quench people’s thirst for sport.
For the kids, there was a whole area dedicated to fun, with bouncing castles, flight simulators, rock climbing, and all sorts of amusements with chances of winning some great prizes. There was literally something for everybody here today, with a glamourous granny competition, fashion shows, cooking demonstrations, machinery, and an inventions area to name a few.
For all those looking to purchase farm supplies, clothes, toys, and knick knacks, there was hundreds of trade stands scattered across the show ground. If you like anything farming, Tullamore really was the place to be. The day finished up at about half 5, with the crowds beginning to make the long trip home.
