An amazing natural wonder has been recorded in West Cork by Birdwatch Ireland.
The murmuration involved hundreds of starling birds flying together in unison. The spectacular sight occurs every year in Ireland and farmers and public are treated to an amazing array of flight and sound.
The flight is known as a phase transition and involves the flock being connected to each other in their movements in unison. When a flock turns in unison its called a phase transition.
The large-scale pattern change is believed to occur to allow birds to be protected from predators.
Have you seen any murmurations in your area? Drop us a line with a video we’d love to see more.
