Last week saw some of the year’s driest weather so far, with a further heatwave forecast for this week.
Many farmers used the good weather to their advantage, mowing grass, baling and even making hay! One farmer in Kildare, Johnny Connolly, captured these stunning images of mother nature hard at work, whilst the harvest was well underway.
As you can see in the video, the wind has taken the recently mowed grass for a spin in the air, creating what looks like a tornado of grass, or a ‘haynado’. The footage of the phenomenon was captured on Friday of last week, near Leixlip in Co. Kildare.
“Crop is light enough without being blown to Leixlip”, posted Johnny Connolly on his Facebook page.
Whatever the cause, it saved this one farmer the task of having to turn the grass themselves that evening. Many more videos of similar instances have since circulated online. Have you witnessed one? Send us your videos on Facebook!
