The Udderly EZ Milker — a hand-held trigger-operated vacuum pump which requires no batteries or electricity — was designed and tested over a five-year period.
EZ Animal Products claim that the multi-purpose milk and colostrum collection device is also suitable for the treatment of mastitis and can be used as an aid for “someone who is not experienced in hand milking”.
“[It is] very handy in the collection of colostrum for the new-born calves and for the collection and storing of colostrum.”
The operator is required to pull the trigger; this creates a vacuum in the bottle which fills the bottle with colostrum or milk.
The piece of equipment — which was invented by entrepreneur and horse-trainer, Buck Wheeler — is used by farmers and vets worldwide.
Wheeler — who applied for a patent for his first invention in 1996 — has also designed similar products for goats, mares, sheep and camels.
