This week we took a trip to the Greville Arms hotel in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, for the auction held by James L Murtagh auctioneers.
There were three lots on offer today, totaling about 36-acres, with a cottage also included. The first lot was the cottage on 1.5acres with outbuildings on site. The properties are located in Hiskingstown just outside Delvin. The opening bid for lot one was for €50,000 from here the bidding increased to a top opening bid of €60000. This property was put on the market again and eventually sold for €73,000.
Lot two was a 24.6-acre piece of land. There were many interested bidders in this lot, with an opening bid of €150,000. From here bids quickly rose, before settling on €172,000. This was the highest opening round bid, before the property was reentered and sold for €1,000 more at €173,000.
Lot three was for 9.39 acres farmland. There were two interested bidders, with the highest bid at €66,000. When the property was put on the market again, after all of the lots failed to be sold together, it sold for a price of €70,000.
This meant all properties sold for a total €316,000 capping off an excellent auction. Thanks to James L Murtagh auctioneers for having us down at the auction, to visit their website see www.jlm.ie.
