Pasture pumps – which are made from cast iron - are operated by livestock to obtain a constant supply of fresh water.
The pumps can be pushed by animals with ease and have a non-return value feature which prevents the pump from running dry.
It consists of a water bowl fitted with a lever-operated pump which is pushed by the animal’s nose; when the animal presses this forward, water is brought back into the bowl.
Easy to install, they are positioned in a field and must be secured to a firm base such as a concrete block.
Depending on the product, one pasture pump is sufficient to supply up to twenty animals.
