In order to achieve optimum growth performance in calves, it is critical that you choose the correct type of milk replacer in order to achieve your target weight gains – that’s according to Susan Dudley M.Agri.Sc – Research and Development Nutritionist at Kiernan Milling.
Protein is the limiting factor for performance in calves as they have a high protein requirement for growth and skeletal development.
Milk Replacer Range
Kiernan Milling’s milk replacer range contains 23% and 26% crude protein.
Both of these milk replacers contain protein sources that are milk-derived including whey and skimmed powder which drive on average daily gain in calves.
“They also contain and pre and probiotics which can help prevent scour and ensure a healthy calf.”
“They have high levels of Vitamin E, which will fight infection and boost immunity.”
The milk replacers are highly digestible, with fibre levels below 0.1% which means that nearly all of the product’s nutrients are being absorbed and utilised by a calf.
The company's milk replacers also contain vanilla which improves palatability and increases feed intakes.
