Research has shown that restricting silage feeding during the day resulted in 9% fewer calving between 10pm and 8am
compared with cows that have full access to silage.
Try it yourself:
- Adequate feed space 0.6 metres per cow
- Avoid machinery work at night by putting feed out during the day
- Block them from silage during the day
- Restrict and feed at same time intervals
- Access to silage for 10-hour intervals (ad-lib silage 10pm - 8am)
Only practice this on cows 10-14 days before calving.
