Teagasc Clonakilty Agricultural College has introduced a new educational tool.
It has acquired a cow calving simulator, which means students can get far more time at handling a cow at parturition than was the case previously.
“This cow has been very useful for showing students how best to handle cows.” James Daunt – a lecturer at the college - outlined.
“Students can take as much time as they may need to handle a cow and to calve her appropriately; this obviously couldn’t be controlled in a real environment.” He concluded.
