The room was full of buyers last Thursday the 23rd in the Bailie hotel in Bailieborough Co. Cavan, with over 158 acres of prime agricultural land in Coppanagh Co. Cavan.
The land was divided into seven lots, with only two remaining unsold on the day. The auctioneer on the day was John Farrelly of DNG Royal County.
Lot number one was for 35-acres, with the bidding coming down to two men. The opening bid was a stand-alone bid of €150,000, before the property was offered again. From here the bidding went up fast and eventually the property was sold to the highest bidder of €220,000.
Lot number two was 28-acres of land, which was eventually sold for a price of €140,000. Lot number three meanwhile remained unsold, as the vendor was not satisfied with the amount offered for the 9-acres.
Lot number four was 15-acres of land, with two bidders battling it out and the final price eventually totalling €112,000. Lot five was the most hotly anticipated of the lot, with three bidders involved.
The opening bid was another stand alone one at €200,000, before another buyer weighed in when the land was offered again. The original bidder came out victorious in the end, taking home the property for a cool €290,000.
Lot six was another that remained unsold, with the highest bid of €60,000 not accepted. It was withdrawn from the auction. The final lot of the day was a 1.61-acre, potential site. There was two bidders involved, with the final bid at €15,000. This property was unsold on the night, with the vendor to deal with the highest bidder.
