Sheep farmer John Fagan has decided to focus on mineral supplementation as part of his farm’s involvement in the Sheep Welfare Scheme.
The Westmeath native has placed his faith in the Animax- Allsure for sheep and lambs bolus, because of a six-month period replacement rate and the associated reduction in labour. Containing Cobalt; Iodine and Selenium, John has already administered boluses in September as part of pre-breeding on the farm, with phenomenal scanning results in January, with a rate just under two.
John wants to continue this performance and is bolus-ing his ewes once again in this video with Cobalt, Iodine and Selenium, in order to improve the thrive of the ewes and to reduce the level of labour.
“What is encouraging for me is when the lambs are born that they get up, they are vigorous and they reduce my overall labour on the farm as that is a huge challenge for sheep farmers at the moment.” John Fagan explained.
“The animal is constantly getting the mineral that it needs all through the year and all through the six month period that it lasts; for me that just reduces labour. When you have a healthy sheep you have a healthy lamb and less labour.” John explained.
“I know that on this farm there is a deficiency in Cobalt and the fact that the bolus provides the six-month cover in Cobalt; Iodine and Selenium ensure that the health of the sheep is being optimised in every turn,” John concluded.
