Alex Scott – who is part of a family that has been involved in dairy farming for the last 150 years - now milks 250 cows on a 700-acre holding.
Milking was taking approximately 4 hours, each end of the day so he was forced to make a decision. “We decided it was either a big parlour or get out of dairying,” he explained.
Alex decided to install a Dairymaster parlour in 16 years ago and he regards this as a “great long-term investment”.
“The parlour has been in that length of time so over 2 million cows have been through it.”
“We still consider it the ‘new parlour’ and that’s the way we like to try and keep it.” he added.
He is impressed with cow flow, the build quality and Dairymaster’s back-up service. “It’s [the parlour] is doing a lot of work; it’s the core part of the business and it has to be right.” he concluded.
