World Shearing championships underway in New Zealand
The World Shearing and Wool handling Championships are currently under way in New Zealand.
The World Shearing and Wool handling Championships are under way in Invercargill in New Zealand. The ILT stadium Southland has been transformed in a €40m shearing shed.
The competition will see over 4500 sheep sheared in the next 4 days and representatives from as far away as Japan have come to take part.
Several different events are taking place at the competition including All nations Blade Shearing heats, All Nations senior shearing and Senior wool handling heats.
The competition has already drawn large crowds and is expected to pull in several thousands over the next few days with the finals occurring on Saturday.
An irish force are also at the event including world record holder Ivan Scott.
Members of the Northern Ireland team include Ivan Montgomery and Jack Robinson.
