A small rescue centre based in the heart of The Burren, County Clare is calling out for support as part of their Winter Hay Appeal Draw, ahead of the festive season.
A total of thirty prizes has been donated from local businesses and members of the equine community for the registered charity, that is completely backed by the input of volunteers.
Hay Appeal Draw
The team of volunteers of Burren Animal Rescue have set a target of selling 2,000 tickets, priced at €2 each.
The money generated will be utilised to fund fourteen weeks of hay for the animals of the Clare-based rescue centre.
The volunteers have noted that every sixteen tickets that are sold will purchase one round bale of hay, priced at €31.58 each. Donations of hay are also greatly welcomed by the centre.
The centre is operated on a voluntary basis and is currently home to 36 equines and a family of potbellied pigs.
Speaking with That’s Farming, Louise Mitchell, a volunteer with Burren Animal Rescue said:
“We provide a place of solace for the animals in our care to recuperate, before we rehabilitate and eventually when the time is right, re-home through adoption. We rely on the generosity of supporters to fund the upkeep, vet bills and feed throughout the year.” Louise told Catherina of That’s Farming.
“Knowing the majority of these animals have been let down in the past be it abuse, neglect or abandonment I feel compelled to make sure their future is as good as it can be. They deserve to be safe, warm full and respected.” Louise added.
