A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for Munster, Leinster, Connacht, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan today, Monday December 17th, coming into effect from 1pm for Connacht, Munster and Donegal and from 7pm elsewhere.
Met Éireann warn that south to southwest winds will reach mean speeds of between 50-65km/hr and gusts from 90 to 100km/hr. “Winds may exceed these limits in coastal areas”, Met Éireann warns.
The windy weather will be accompanied by heavy rain overnight, heaviest in the west of the country. There is also a risk of spot flooding in places also, with winds potentially reaching gale force in coastal areas.
The warning for Munster, Connacht and Donegal remains in place until 4am on Tuesday, December 18th, and until 9am on Tuesday, December 18th, for Leinster, Monaghan and Cavan.
