National Forecasters, Met Éireann, have put in place two status yellow weather warnings for today.
The first of which is a wind warning, which will affect Leinster, Munster and Galway. Winds are set to reach speeds of between 55 and 65 km/hr this evening, with the weather warning in effect until 8pm this evening, Saturday. Gusts are also expected to be strong “gale force” and up to 110kms per hour.
The second warning in place is a heavy rainfall warning. It has been issued for Connacht, Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan. Met Eireann say they expect up to 35mms of rain to fall in a 24hour period. They warn that there will be heavy downpours, with a risk of “thunderstorms and local spot flooding”. This warning is valid until 12 tonight.
The night ahead looks to be a cold one, with scattered snow, sleet and hail showers. Temperatures will range from -2 to +1 degrees.
