Willie Daly – who lives in close proximity to Lisdoonvarna in Co. Clare - claims to have matched more than 3,000 couples in his lifetime.
“I am fortunate to have inherited the skills of my father and grandfather. Like them, I know instinctively what makes a good match.”
“My matchmaking is different from online dating; I believe that the internet is cold,” he said in a statement on his website.
‘Irish people drink a lot’
In a video on Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival’s Facebook page, the third-generation matchmaker said: “Love is so important and so special. Love is where you are at in your life, what your mindset is and equally is a time, a place and often as I say, the environment.”
“Often, love is very much enhanced by lovely music and by drink. Irish people drink a lot and very few people in the world know how to attract themselves like Irish people.”
“They just have a ball all the time and it is just great,” he concluded.
