This week is set to be much milder than last week, according to Met Éireann, though it will also be unsettled with temperatures down to as low as -1 tonight. How will the rest of the week fare weather-wise? Find out below!

This week is expected to be much milder, though unsettled, according to Met Éireann, with some sleet forecast for higher ground on Wednesday.

Monday - A dry and bright start to the week, with some good, sunny spells forecast. There is also expected to be some isolated, light showers along the north and northwestern coasts. Top temperatures during the day of 8 to 11 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate west to northwest breezes.

It will be cold and dry early on Monday night, with some clear spells and some frost and ice patches forming overnight. Overnight lows of -1 to +3 degrees. Rain is expected to develop in the southwest at around midnight, before spreading eastwards over the rest of the country by dawn. Winds will be fresh and south to southeast in direction.

Tuesday - A cloudy and blustery day forecast, with some outbreaks of rain expected and fresh to gusty south to southeast winds. Any lingering rain should clear eastwards towards the afternoon and evening on Tuesday, leaving much clearer weather. Maximum temperatures on the day of 10 to 13 degrees, with winds turning westerly.

Tuesday night will see the cool and breezy conditions continuing, though it is should remain dry besides the odd shower along western coastal counties.

Wednesday - A “cold, bright and breezy day” on Wednesday, according to Met Éireann, with a mixture of passing showers and sunny spells. Any showers should remain confined to western counties, with some prolonged. Southwest winds will be fresh and blustery. Further rain is expected to affect the majority of areas by Wednesday evening, with sleet falling on hilled areas.

Thursday - Very similar weather forecast for Thursday as was had on Wednesday, with a mixture of sunny spells and the odd shower. Again, showers will be mainly confined to the west of the country. Southwest winds will be strong, though should easy by the evening.

It will be cold overnight, with some ground frost developing.

Friday - Current indications suggest a wet and blustery day on Friday, as rain and strong southwest winds spread countrywide during the day. Rain will be heavy with winds in some parts reaching gale force. It should though, however, remain mild.

Next Weekend - Early forecasts suggest the unsettled, wet weather will continue into the weekend, with some longer spells of rain and strong to gale force winds in parts.
