This morning will start cold but mostly sunny, with frost and icy patches clearing as the morning progresses, according to Met Éireann.
Clouds will gather over southern counties as the day goes on with a light to moderate east to north-east breeze. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees during the day will fall to between 1 and 4 degrees at night.
The night is expected to bring clear spells for the north and east but patches of rain and drizzle will fall over southern areas.
A moderate to fresh easterly wind will be strong on eastern and southern coasts.
Saturday
Met Éireann predicts Saturday will be mainly cloudy but dry through much of the midlands and east. Outbreaks of rain in Munster will extend to Connacht in the morning and eventually to Ulster by evening.
There is a risk of heavy rain in both Connacht and Munster with top temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.
The national meteorology department anticipate rainfall in the west on Saturday night which will become lighter overnight.
Clear spells can be expected over the rest of the country with lows of 2 to 5 degrees in light to moderate southeasterly breezes.
Sunday
The current forecast suggests Sunday will be mainly dry with a mix of cloudy and sunny spells. Any residual rain or drizzle will be confined to coastal areas. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light or moderate southeasterly breezes.
Sunday night is predicted to be dry, but patchy rain and drizzle could affect the west and northwest. Lows of 1 to 4 degrees in light to moderate southeasterly breezes.
