Weather: Sunny spells, showers and high temperatures

Heavy showers will fall across the south of the country today (Friday, August 14th), according to Met Éireann.

Drier, brighter and sunny conditions are set to develop in the northern half of Ireland, with highs of 21 to 25 degrees nationwide.

There will be showers or longer spells of rain throughout Munster tonight, with the rest of the country expected to remain dry with overnight temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees.

There is an ongoing risk of a few passing showers, the national forecaster said.

Saturday – Showers or longer spells of rain will impact Munster and southern parts of Connacht at first and later into Leinster.

Drier conditions are expected in Ulster and north Connacht with some sunshine; temperatures will be in the region of 21 to 25 degrees.

Temperatures will range from 12 to 14 degrees on Saturday night, with some scattered showers and clear spells.

Sunday – There will be little change, with sunny spells and scattered showers once again.

The best of the temperatures, Met Éireann outlined, will be in the south-west with night-time lows of 13 to 15 degrees.
