Weather: Possibility of sleet this weekend

Rain will clear this morning (Friday, January 31st), although there will be some heavy bursts early on, according to Met Éireann.

Some brighter spells will develop, with drier conditions set to follow; shows will descend upon Ulster and Connacht with afternoon highs of 11 to 13 degrees.

There will be frequent showers in the north and west tonight with clear spells elsewhere with minimum temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees.

Saturday – The national forecaster said it will be mainly dry with sunny spells in Munster and Leinster, with Connacht and Ulster set to experience persistent rain and drizzle.

Rain will arrive in the south-west early on Saturday night and this will quickly spread northwards, reaching the north coast by dawn.

The northern half of the country will experience frost early in the night; temperatures will dip close to freezing in this area and it will be milder further south due to rain.
