Weather: Drier and brighter conditions but rain to continue

It will be dry across much of the east and south of the country today, according to Met Éireann.

It has said that it will be cloudy and damp in the west and north with patchy rain and drizzle set to extend across much of Ireland this afternoon.

Rain, generally light and patchy in nature, will be heavier and more persistent at times in the west and south-west.

Temperatures will range from 16 to 21 degrees, before dropping between 10 to 14 degrees later tonight.

Similar conditions tonight, with patchy rain, drizzle and mist set to continue. It will be drier and clearer across Connacht and Ulster, with isolated showers.

Saturday – There will be a cloudy and damp start in the south-east tomorrow, with rain for a period.

Drier and brighter conditions are expected elsewhere with sunny spells and scattered showers, according to the national forecaster.

This fresher, brighter weather will extend to all areas by the afternoon.

Temperatures will range between 14 to 20 degrees tomorrow with lower values of 6 to 8 degrees on Saturday night.

It will be largely dry tomorrow night with long clear spells and some mist patches.

Sunday –There will be dry conditions and good sunshine during the morning, according to Met Éireann.

An odd shower is expected during the afternoon, with sunnier conditions by evening.

Temperatures will be in the region of 15 to 19 degrees, with lows of 7 to 10 degrees on Sunday night.

Met Éireann has said that some showers are possible in Atlantic coastal counties.
