A changeable week is in store, with wet and windy conditions, according to Met Éireann. It will be windy and wet for a period this morning, with strong to gale force southerly winds.
Rain, it added, will clear eastwards into the Irish Sea before the early afternoon. Winds will begin to ease off before sunshine and scattered showers follow.
Temperatures will range from 7 to 10 degrees before dropping between 2 and 5 degrees tonight. Although it will be cold and clear early tonight, cloud will quickly thicken, and outbreaks of rain will spread across Ireland.
Tuesday – It will be dull, damp and windy with scattered outbreaks of rain and strong to gale force south-westerly winds. It will be very mild and humid with highs of 11 to 14 degrees.
Temperatures will dip to between 2 and 5 degrees on Tuesday night with patchy rain expected to clear eastwards.
Wednesday – The national forecaster has said there will be a cold and mostly dry start to the day, with some bright spells set to develop.
It has warned that there is a threat of a spell of rain moving in across southern counties, but this “remains uncertain”.
Thursday – Met Éireann outlined that current indications suggest an area of low pressure will move close to Ireland, with rain, a risk of strong winds and highs of 4 to 7 degrees.
Friday – A “transient ridge of high pressure looks set to lie over Ireland” bringing mostly dry conditions and light or moderate breezes.
Temperatures will range from 5 to 8 degrees; rain is expected to move in to affect western coastal counties overnight.
