Beef Plan Movement (2018-2025) have received an enquiry in relation to the potential exportation of high-quality E and U grade weanlings to Italy.
A spokesperson for Beef Plan Group confirmed that the purchaser in question is not seeking Angus of Hereford-crosses; all weanlings must be over 300kgs.
- Belgian Blue-crosses;
- Culard Charolais-crosses;
Releasing a statement, a spokesperson for Beef Plan said: “The plan is to bring a large supplier for Italian supermarket chains - who buys cattle for Italian feedlots - over to Ireland.”
“Step one of the process is that an Irish buyer will inspect the cattle first to make sure the quality and numbers are there.”
To facilitate this process, the group wish to identify fifty such herds with a minimum quantity of thirty such weanlings.
“If a deal does come out of it, the cattle could be collected and paid for in marts if that is what is desired. In any case, the farmer would be paid for them on the day of sale.”
If interest, send a text message to Eamon Corley - 086-2228246 - stating the number of weanlings, name and address.
“The age of the weanlings right now is not important it is the quality they are inspecting.” The Beef Plan spokesperson concluded.
