‘We are all in this together’ – mart manager on Covid-19 crisis

The manager of Kenmare Mart and independent councillor, Dan McCarthy, has said he is determined to keep the food chain moving by ensuring that supply meets demand.

He outlined that he is currently working “closely” with buyers and sellers to ensure this.

Trade livestock during difficult times

In a statement, he said: “We are all in this together and I want to ensure that farmers, particularly here in Kerry, are able to sell their cattle and sheep during these difficult times.”

Councillor McCarthy said that he is receiving orders on a weekly basis and that in his role as mart manager, he has a desire to play his part by doing everything possible to assist the farming community during the Covid-19 crisis.

He has called on cattle and sheep buyers throughout the country to contact him directly if they have stock ready for sale.
