Monday, November 5th, saw a farmer suffer fatal injuries after falling from a height in Co. Waterford, as reported by us here.
The man is reported to have died after he fell from a ladder whilst carrying out roof repairs on his farm in Scrahan, Kilmacthomas. The farmer is thought to have fallen from a height of approximately 14 feet.
Gardaí confirmed that the 52-year-old man had been pronounced dead at the scene and today he has been named as local farmer, Patrick Drohan. This marks the 17th farm death so far this year. An investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
The 52-year-old farmer farmed 46-hectares in total, where he ran a spring calving herd, also bringin calves to stores and finishing some also. He also took part in the Teagasc Better Farm beef programme.
The farmer’s remains will be reposing from his residence from 4:30pm today, Wednesday November 7th, until 7:30pm. He will be buried on Thursday following Requiem Mass at Newtown Parish Church.
