A foal has been reunited with a mare because of the efforts of Gardaí in Kilkenny.
Lydia, a pony, was seized by two sergeants under section 12 of the 2013 Animal Welfare Act, on Thursday, September 3rd as reported by us here.
A veterinary practitioner examined the mare and found that not only was she in-foal, but also bearing milk.
The following day Kilkenny Gardai seized a foal that has been confirmed to be belonging to Lydia and shortly afterwards they were reunited.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Garda Síochána Kilkenny/Carlow, said: “Further to this, a miniature foal was also seized. Garda powers under the 2013 Act were once again utilised and again our colleagues in the council assisted.”
“Thank you to MLHR for your tireless work and for bringing these two together. The investigation is ongoing in this case.”
