Members of Kerry Road Policing Unit, in conjunction with the RSA, conducted a checkpoint utilising a mobile weighbridge on Monday (September 23rd).
In a statement on Twitter, a spokesperson said: “A number of HGVs were detected overweight with one vehicle with its trailer and load weighing in at 53,750kg.”
“A number of vehicles with defective tyres were also detected.”
In a separate tweet, Gardaí confirmed that the types pictured are from another vehicle.
Maximum legal weights
According to the RSA, maximum legal weights are determined by a number of factors, including the spacing between the axles, the outer axle and bogie spread, the number of tyres on each axle, and the type of suspension fitted — You can find further information here.
