A crowd of 4,000 GAA fans gathered at Parnell Park on Friday, October 19th, to watch the penultimate game of the TG4 Underdogs GAA series.
The panel of aspiring senior GAA county stars took on the might of four-time All-Ireland Champions Dublin at the game on Friday, which featured Sligo Charolais breeder Niall Canning. Niall started the game at half forward and the two-footed Drumclif/Rosses Point GAA man caught up with That’sFarming on the eve of the game against Dublin, which you can read here.
Although the Underdogs had only the best intentions for the game against Dublin, at which there were selectors from counties of all the Underdog representatives, though fell at the final hurdle. Though Dublin fielded what some may call a “weakened” team, they still stormed home to victory with a score 5-17 to 1-3.
Sligo Farmer, Niall Canning, caught up with TG4 after the game with some fellow Underdog members, to describe their experience and the game itself.
It may be the last time for Niall and Co to don the black and yellow of the underdogs, though who knows, it may soon lead to a place on the team of his beloved Yeats County. Don't forget to check out the highlight reel from the game over the weekend, via @TG4TV on Twitter, below!
