A 19-year-old articulated lorry driver has been banned from driving for two years and received a hefty fine, over dangerous driving charges.
The driver was stopped by Naas Roads Policing on the morning of September 17th 2018. The 19-year-old was driving a fully laden articulated lorry, weighing 44tonnes, at the time of being stopped. He was stopped by Gardaí on the M7 for dangerous driving, as originally reported by us here.
Upon inspection, Gardaí noticed that the speed limiter on the vehicle had been tampered with. The driver was subsequently charged, with the truck seized and he appeared in court in recent days over the incident.
Following the hearing, the driver was handed a fine of €4,000 and was disqualified from driving for a two-year period.
