Two cars being driven with red agricultural diesel were stopped in Downpatrick, Co. Down on Thursday morning (October 10th).
South Area Burglary Team worked with members of the Customs and the Driver and Vehicle Agency to carry out checkpoints, anti-burglary patrols and searched for wanted persons.
In a statement on social media, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Checks of two cars stopped showed they were being driven on the ‘Ribena juice’ (aka red-diesel). The drivers left with lighter pockets.” the spokesperson added.
“Police went to speak with the occupants of another car, and when they approached it both persons were sitting smoking cannabis joints; safe to say these were seized.”
The PSNI outlined that rugs were also seized after another car was stopped and the driver was reported for not holding a valid driving license.
“Our advice: If it’s on the red, keep er’ in the shed!” the statement concluded.
