Sunday August 19th is the day marked on the calendar when the annual Des Flynn tractor run is set to take place.
This year’s run marks the sixth annual event, with all proceeds split between the Irish Heart Foundation and the Castleconnor Defibrillator fund. The tractor run kicks off at the Castleconnor Community centre in Corbally, West Co. Sligo.
Registration takes place from 12noon until 2pm on the day, with the registration of each vehicle costing €20. There will also be refreshments and spot prizes up for grabs on the day, with full bar entertainment planned for afterward.
Des Flynn and previous charity efforts-
The tractor run was first organized back in 2012, following the tragic death of local farmer, Des Flynn.
Des died suddenly on May 23rd at the age of 46 and the farmer was known to be a keen tractor enthusiast with a love for the land. The maiden tractor run managed to raise €3,140 for charity, with last year’s event raising €5,650 in total. €4,000 of which was donated to the Irish Heart Foundation, with €1,450 going to the local Castleconnor Defibrillator fund and the remaining €200 going to the Castleconnor Community Centre.
Are you busy Sunday August 19th? If not, head down to Castleconnor in Co. Sligo, with fun for all the family and help do your bit for some noble causes. If you would like further information on the tractor run, check out their Facebook page here.
