A pensioner has narrowly escaped injury, as a tractor drove straight through her front garden.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning and the tractor and trailer just missed her house by a small distance, as reported by inishowennews.com. It happened at the house of the lady, aged in her 70’s, at Lisowen Avenue near Buncrana.
It happened at approximately 9am in the morning and it is understood that the tractor involved belonged to a local construction company. It is believed that the driver lost control as he was traveling down the steep road, known as “Hill Head”.
The tractor is reported to have veered across the carriageway, mounted a kerb and then crashed straight through the pensioners garden wall. The elderly woman is understood to have been shaken up over the incident, she was subsequently seen by two public health nurses. She was unscathed after the accident.
The pensioner was said to be seriously shaken up, as she usually converses with her neighbours at the front wall. The driver of the tractor and trailer was also unhurt in the crash. One local resident described it a miracle that nobody was hurt.
“It’s a miracle nobody was killed. The tractor could have gone into the front of the house and there could have been wains (children) or anyone walking in front of the house when it happened. It’s terrible.”, they said.
An investigation is currently underway into the incident, to determine the cause of the accident.
