Last year the annual Tractor drive took place at The Saddlers Inn pub at Kingsland, Boyle, Co. Roscommon on New Year’s Day.
The event saw a total of 123 tractors taking part, with a registration fee of €20 per tractor. The event was organized in aid of “Niamh’s Journey There”, which was a fundraising initiative in aid of local girl, Niamh Flanagan, who tragically lost her battle with cancer in March of this year.
The 20-year-old had set up her own blog detailing her struggles with the disease, leading to many fundraising efforts in her honour. Last year’s tractor drive, organized by Niamh’s relatives who also own the Saddler’s Inn, and raised a whopping €3,584 for Niamh.
This Year -
Although Niamh has tragically passed away, her memory will live on through yet another installment of the New Year tractor Drive.
This year’s event will again take place on New Year’s Day, commencing at the Saddlers Inn. This year’s run is being held in aid of North West Hopsice. Registration is from 12pm on the day.
