That’s Farming announces new appointment and video series

That’s Farming – the fastest-growing agricultural publication in Ireland – is launching a new, digital show entitled ‘Down the Garden Path’

The step-by-step video series, which provides all the know-how that you need to grow your own vegetable garden, will be launched this Sunday (April 5th) at 4pm.

Each segment will appear on That’s Farming and will be posted across our social media channels; Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Snapchat (@thatsfarming) and Instagram to reach a broad audience.

Back to basics

Catherina Cunnane, editor of That’s Farming, said: “Covid-19, which is presenting a major social, economic and financial challenge for the nation and overseas, highlights the importance of high-quality food production and primary produces more than ever.”

“Perhaps, some readers may consider that they can put some of their spare time to good use and to go back to basics, by growing their own. I often feel that people overlook how easy and cheap it can be to grow your own vegetables.”

New appointment

The programme will be hosted by junior journalist/content creator, Cian McAndrew, who has joined the west of Ireland-based company in recent weeks.

The Galway native hails from a beef farming background and graduated from UCD in 2019 with a degree in animal and crop production (ACP). During his studies, he gained extensive experience across a wide range of agricultural enterprises including dairy, beef, sheep, swine and tillage. He was also a member of the UCD agricultural science society, playing a key role in raising over €65,000 for charity.

Cunnane added: “That’s Farming is pleased to announce the appointment of Cian McAndrew. He joins our firm as a junior journalist at a time, that is undoubtedly, a challenging period for the agricultural sector.”

“As a farmer and UCD graduate, Cian is well-positioned to provide readers with original, informative and thought-provoking written and video content.”

“There are a number of ground-breaking, innovative projects in the pipeline at the moment and we look forward to unveiling these in due course. I wish to acknowledge the continued support of our dedicated readers and clients, who are the backbone of our company.”

Speaking following his appointment, McAndrew said: “I am extremely excited to have joined the That’s Farming team. I have a responsibility to represent the Irish farming community to the best of my ability and will endeavour to do so. I look forward to reporting on a bright future for us all.”
