Storm Ophelia caused significant destruction on Monday but now it seems another story is on the way.
Met Éireann have warned that another storm called Brian could be set to strike the country by as early as Friday night, with warnings of a status yellow weather warning being put in place in the event. It is thought the storm will pass by the country by Late Friday/Early Saturday morning, though the bad weather could start as early as Thursday.
Met Éireann forecast that Friday night will be “Extremely wet and windy overnight”, while they also warn of a risk of local flooding. They say winds will again be strong, putting a damper on this week’s clean up operation.
“Strong to gale force southeast winds”, they warn.
Saturday will continue along this trend, with an "extremely wet and windy day" forecast. They also warn of strong gale force winds, but say these will subside by the evening along with the rain. They do warn that they are yet unsure as to the extent of the bad weather on Saturday, and say it could yet trigger a status yellow weather warning.
Met Éireann say they will be keeping an eye on the depression making its way towards the country and will keep us update on the situation.
