The Irish Shows Association – which has 135 member shows across Ireland – is appealing to exhibitors to submit their entries on time.
“You can play your part by submitting your entries on time with all necessary details recorded on your entry form.”
Releasing a statement on Facebook, it said: “Please remember that the vast majority of show secretaries are entirely voluntary and are trying to fit a huge amount of work in around their "day job.”
“Every entry needs to be typed up, entered in an index, put in the correct class, assigned a number etc. before the catalogue goes to print - this does not happen overnight.”
“Please help them to maintain some level of sanity.”
"A complete catalogue
For the benefit of exhibitors, spectators and sponsors alike, it is in shows' best interest to have a complete catalogue, the spokesperson stressed.
“A book with only half the entries is a very hard sell.”
“Just think, there could be a potential buyer for your animal outside the ring hoping to find details on a catalogue.” the statement concluded.
