The death has occurred of Sher Muhammad Rafique, All-Syma, Clare Road, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo.
Rafique opened Halal Meats in the 1970s and ran up to five meat processing plants across the country.
His firm later became known as United Meat Packers.
Its founder passed away peacefully in Mayo University Hospital on Monday (June 17th).
The Pakistani-born entrepreneur – who was aged in his eighties – will be “sadly missed by all his family, friends and the communities throughout Ireland” according to his death notice.
He was laid to rest yesterday (Tuesday, June 18th), in the local cemetery.
