The clock is ticking for those who wish to apply to the sheep welfare scheme.
Farmers wishing to apply to the €25m Sheep Welfare scheme have just one week left to enter the scheme.
The grant which will provide a payment of €10 a ewe providing farmers will complete a number of actions on their flocks. There are two separate streams one for Lowland and one for Hill farm flocks.
The actions are aimed to target:
- Lameness Control
- Mineral Supplementation ewes post Mating
- Meal Feeding Lambs Post Weaning
- Parasite control (Faecal Egg Count)
- Management of Pregnant Ewes (Scanning)
- Flystrike Control
- Mineral supplementation lambs pre weaning.
In order to qualify for the scheme you need to have an active Herd Number or applied for the same before closing date of the Scheme January 31st, submit a BPS application for reach year of scheme participation, have submitted your sheep census and a correctly completed application form for the scheme itself.
The scheme is set to run for 4 years.
