58 men including eleven farmers have been chosen as Rose Escorts as part of the 2018 Rose of Tralee International Festival.
The male participants aged between 21-30 were required to pass an interview process; numerous endurance tests and team-building exercises before they could become fully-fledged Rose Escorts.
The farmers, along with one forester are joining other candidates from a wide range of professions for the festival which runs from August 17th-21st.
Cork has the highest representation with 11 Rose Escorts, followed by Kerry; Dublin and Limerick.
The Rose Escort of the Year will be chosen live at The Dome on RTÉ on Monday, August, 20th; Daíthí Ó’ Sé will present the televised show.
The Rose of Tralee
Fifty-seven women will battle it out for the 2018 Rose of Tralee title, with the winner set to be crowned on Tuesday night. Among those is 23-year-old full-time farmer, Grainne Hogan, representing Laois.
A number of other female contestants also have agricultural backgrounds.
Along with several fun-filled events, Jake Carter; The High Kings; Sean and Conor Price; Hermitage Green; Oasis Tribute Band; Neil Diamond Tribute Act and Rolling Stones Tribute Band are set to entertain crowds at the festival.
