Roscommon mart Manager Maura Quigley is set to hang up her wellies in exchange for a tractor and ballet shoes as part of a funding drive for her local GAA club.
The Roscommon-native is joining forces with former mart manager Michael Naughton, in a bid to raise much needed funds for St. Dominics GAA Club, also based in Roscommon.
Maura and Michael will not only be dancing together but driving tractors together in a specially organised tractor run!
The Strictly Dancing Show promises to be a great nights entertainment with funds going to a good cause.
Speaking with That’s Farming, Maura Quigley said:
‘It is a very worthy cause, as this GAA club plays an essential role in community life. It has been a hectic few weeks, but the fun is only beginning. We encourage as many people as possible to come along. It isn’t every day you get to see a mart manager at such an act!’
The dance event will take place on the Easter Weekend in the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone. Maura and Michael will be well prepared as their being coached by choreographer Trisha McDermott of McDermott School of Ballet.
If dancing is not your thing then a Tractor run is being organised from Roscommon mart on Sunday 19th March at 12pm.
Tractors and Dancing sure why wouldn’t you take part!
Tickets for Strictly come Dancing are available to purchase from John Corcoran’s Menswear, the Hodson Bay Hotel and from St Dominics Strictly Committee members and dancers.
Registration for the tractor run is from 11am-11.45 am on March 19th.
Entry fee is €20 per tractor, with refreshments and raffle held afterwards.
