A part-time farmer from Co. Roscommon has come out on top at this year's Rose of Tralee Festival after winning the Rose Escort of the Year prize.
Paul Clabby hails from near Strokestown in Co. Roscommon, where he and his family run a suckler and sheep farming enterprise. The 25-year-old spends his days working as a Rural enterprise development officer and his nights as a DJ in local clubs and pubs. That’sFarming spoke to Paul before the festival began, which you can read here.
The Kilbride GAA footballer beat off competition from 56 other Rose escorts, including nine other farmers and five other men with an agricultural background to take home the €1,000 prize. Paul was chosen as the Rose Escort to Wicklow Rose, Lorna Mallick. The young Rossie was presented with a cheque on the night by presenter Dáithí Ó Sé, yesterday Monday 20th August.
