Record-breaking entry of Texel rams entered for society premier sale

The Irish Texel Sheep Society value the custom of commercial farmers over the years, so much so, it has invested heavily to ensure buyers will have a safe environment to view and purchase sheep at its upcoming premier sale.

Speaking to That’s Farming, ahead of its sale, which will take place at Blessington Mart on Friday (August 14th) and Saturday (August 15th), a society spokesperson said: “We have brought the biggest selection of Texel rams in the history of the society for the premier sale this year.”

“This is to ensure that all loyal and new commercial farmers will be able to find something to suit the needs of the farmer and the budget. The majority of these will be star-rated.”

“We have been planning this sale since March to ensure the safety of purchasers and sellers. We believe that we have come up with a very exciting sale for 2020 in the current circumstances.”

Viewing

The society will have viewing times for farmers to view the sheep on offer. All entries will be ready for viewing on Friday (August 14th) at 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and viewing from 8:00 am on Saturday (August 15th).

The sale will begin with females at 10:00 am sharp followed by shearling rams at approximately 12 noon and ram lambs thereafter.

€100 voucher

All commercial farmers that request a catalogue by texting name and address to 087-3552992 will be entered into a draw for a €100 voucher off a ram on the day! Text now to make sure you are in the draw!
Online bidding

The sales ring will be set up this year in the carpark to allow maximum space for purchasers to see the rams going through the ring.

This will be covered by a marquee; there is also changed penning area this year to allow for maximum, social distancing.
The sale will have an online bidding facility through the MartEye app – Anyone looking to purchase through the app needs to register with Blessington Mart before 4:00 pm on August 14th, 2020.

“We are looking forward to seeing our loyal customers and new customers this year! Don’t forget if we don’t see you, you can see us through MartEye and buy online.”

“Don’t worry about transport, we will arrange this for you. The only thing you need to worry about is picking the ram or ewe that suits your needs!” the society spokesperson concluded.
