Rainfall warning issued for 20 counties

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for twenty counties.

The alert is valid for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, and Waterford from 12pm today (Wednesday, June 17th) until 3am on Friday (June 19th).

Showers and thunderstorms 

“Heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms will occur in places during the period.” the national forecaster warned.

“While some areas will miss the showers, where they do occur there will be some torrential downpours, localised flooding, and hazardous driving conditions.”

“A more prolonged and widespread period of heavy rain will occur later on Thursday.” Met Éireann added.
