Weather: Risk of isolated thunderstorms this weekend

Any frost, ice and mist patches will gradually clear this morning, according to Met Éireann.

Brighter conditions will extend from the southwest with showers clearing to the northeast by evening. Rain and drizzle are predicted in the west this evening, with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

The night is expected to start out cold but dry and eventually becoming milder with outbreaks of rain. Lowest night-time temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees Celsius.

Saturday – The national forecaster anticipates a mild, breezy and mostly cloudy day; however, persistent rain will develop in the west by noon and spread across the country through the afternoon and evening.

Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with fresh southerly winds which will be strong along south and west coasts.

Rain will clear to showers and winds will become westerly tomorrow night with lows of 3 to 5 degrees.

Sunday – The Irish Meteorological Service predicts that there will be scattered blustery showers for Sunday. Some of the showers will be heavy with hail, and a risk of isolated thunderstorms.
