The Department of Agriculture met with farmers in County Wicklow this week to talk about their proposed deer cull in the county.
Wicklow has the highest rate of cattle TB in Ireland and deer are seen to be a carrier of the disease.
We asked our readers what they thought of the proposed cull, and the results were almost completely unanimous.
79% of respondents said that they do agree with the proposed Wicklow deer cull, but a slightly lower figure of 76% agrees that they’re the biggest carriers of TB in the area.
The majority of respondents aren’t worried about the effects the cull will have on Wicklow’s environment, with 59% saying they’re not concerned about the destruction of native wildlife in the proposed move.
