A pigeon sold for a new record price of €1.25 million yesterday (Sunday, March 18th).
Armando – a Belgium homing pigeon - was acquired by two Chinese purchasers through Pigeon Paradise (PIPA) – an online auction.
He smashed the previous world record; New Vixen sold for €376,000 in November 2017.
Armando is dubbed the “Lewis Hamilton of pigeons” and the “best Belgian long-distance pigeon of all time.”
“In 2017, Armando was one of the best pigeons in Belgium. He won third National Ace Pigeon KBDB and also second National Limoges.” His owner - Jo ël Verschoot - told PIPA.
“In 2018, we continued to race Armando and he won first National Ace KBDB with the lowest percentage ever.”
“The last race of his career, he won the first National Angouleme. On top of that, he also won the first Olympic Pigeon in Poznan.” He added.
