PHOTOS: Win this pedigree ET Texel shearling ram

A pedigree-registered ET Texel shearling ram is up for grabs as part of DC Farm Competitions’ latest draw.

The founder of the pay-to-enter competition website, Daniel Conway, describes the prize as a grass-fed animal with “an outstanding head, with length, depth and bone”.

He is sired by Clark’s Bolt, a maternal brother to the £40k Garngour Alabama and Garngour Craftsman £65k (last year’s Lanark champion), and is out of an imported ewe.

His ET brother sold for €1,600 at last year’s premier Texel sale, according to Conway.

Less than 40 tickets were available at the time of writing with each priced at €14.50.

How does it work?

The new online platform, which holds weekly competitions, has stemmed from Daniel Conway’s life-long passion for breeding high-end cattle.

The new agricultural-orientated competitions website allows farmers to be in with the chance of winning quality livestock by paying a small entry fee which is a fraction of their value.

Users are required to log onto – www.dcfarmcompetitions.com – where they select a competition of their choice.

They then click ‘enter’ to purchase a ticket and are required to answer a question to qualify and complete payment. They are then entered into the draw in question and receive email confirmation with a ticket number.

The winner of each competition is selected using a random number generator and announced during a Facebook livestream. The competition provider will contact winners and organise transfer and collection arrangements.
