PHOTOS: ‘This isn’t a-2 headed calf’

Schmitt Livestock experienced a calving case with an unexpected outcome over the course of the weekend.

A cow on their beef, poultry and pig farm, required assistance, which resulted in the farmer intervening to provide assistance.

In a post on their Facebook page, the farm owners said: “Kyle got her up and started pulling. This definitely isn’t the outcome we were expecting! Yes, it’s a sad loss but the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.”

“I’m sure this will be the only one we’ll ever have in my lifetime!”

“This isn’t a 2-headed calf – it’s an even more rare form, called partial twinning. It has 2 fully formed heads, necks and spinal cords, but 1 body.”

Healthy and ‘doing fine’

“God was still in control over this situation, and we are thankful that his hands are always there.”

“I’m thankful it was a cow that was gentle and easy to get in the pens to help her.”

“I’m thankful the calf was breech, allowing it to be delivered. I can’t imagine what the outcome would have been if it would have been head(s) first.”

The dam is healthy and “doing fine” following the delivery of the calf, according to her owners.
